The STL9000 is a highly-integrated, low-power, low pin-count Medium Access Control (MAC) and BaseBand signal Processor (BBP) that comply with IEEE standards of 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g, as well as the dual band systems, 802.11a/b and 802.11b/g. It also support the security requirement for the standard of IEEE 802.11i and the draft standard of IEEE 802.11e for QoS(Quality of Service) and WME as well, offering a low-cost single-chip solution for various applications of Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN).

Internal analog circuitry, such high resolution ADC, DAC and AGC, and programmable features make it a complete mixed-mode solution for easy integration of various suppliers of Radio Link modules. STL9000 also supports programmable host interface via standard CardBus(version 7.0), mini PCI or PCI interface (version 2.2 @33MHz) to communicate with the host systems for various potential WLAN applications. STL9000 also provides access to external serial EEPROM for the storage of system information for Plug-and-Play system boot up and 5 General Purpose I/O for the use of external LED to monitor the link status and indicate the radio activity, offering a friendly integration environment.
